In the fall of 2016, the Family and Children First Council approached community and government leaders to discuss forming a task force to share data on how opiates were impacting the Shelby County community. With much support, the first meeting was held in October of 2016 and the Shelby County Drug Task Force (SCDTF) was formed. The purpose of the SCDTF is:
To share data on how opiates and other illegal drugs impact our community organizations and the clients served.
To bring law enforcement, government agencies, judicial leaders, and non-profit leaders together to collaborate.
To implement strategic best practices on treatment strategies and education and prevention strategies.
To educate and inform our State and Federally elected officials to ensure increased programming and funding in Shelby County.
