FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER OF NORTHWEST OHIO

Providing behavioral health services across Northwest Ohio. School-based Prevention Education Programs include:

DINA School– a social skills program for groups of children ages 3-8. This is part of the Incredible Years curriculum, and uses life-size puppets, practice activities, role play and games to teach children appropriate social and emotional skills. Preschools and schools can request DINA School programming at a minimum of 11 half-hour sessions with an agreed-upon regular schedule. This program is ideal for preschool, child care groups and kindergarten to second grade classrooms.

Botvin Life Skills Training– a comprehensive and exciting program designed for elementary, middle/junior high and high school students that provides these adolescents and young teens with the confidence and skills needed to successfully navigate challenging situations. This research-validated program addresses the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote substance use and other risky behaviors in children, and promotes behavioral responsibility to reduce and prevent a variety of health risk behaviors. The curriculum may be implemented in any subject area, and can be taught across multiple subjects, which allows for flexibility in meeting the needs of various classroom settings. Schools may request services that are conducted in a classroom setting.
